...no, not THAT kind of dirty!!! Lying-on-the-gritty-grubby-ground-of-Digbeth-getting-some-great-images-kind-of-dirty!
I have just returned form 48 hours of inspiration and re-energising, provided by one of my most favourite photographers,
Steve Gerrard. After nearly 20 years as a photographer, and with well over 100 weddings in the bag, it was time to get back in touch with Creative Me, and Steve's
fantastic, 2-day workshop did just that!
The following are just a few of the images I created during a 2-hour wander around the edgy streets of Digbeth, Birmingham (
please stop washing the (good) graffiti off the walls of Hereford, and leave me something to work with!). Based in the
Custard Factory, I am not surprised Steve has managed to be consistently creative- a creativity which he is able to apply wherever he goes. I am now full-to-bursting with fantastic tips, and new technical know-how, and cannot wait to put them all to the test!
Our models were 2 fab folk, Anna and Simon, married in real-life, and wedding clients of Steve's, who braved the howling winds and a barrage of trigger-happy photographers, to make some great images a reality. Thanks so much! (Anna's awesome black wedding gown was supplied by
The Couture Company- and I fell seriously in love with a ruby-red gown in their window- I think I may have to go back for another peek!).
So here they are, I would love to know your thoughts...
Thank you so, so much, Steve- I've made some fabulous images and a bunch of new friends :-) Oh, and I think I may have got my mojo back..
P.S. We did a little light-painting, too...
